Session Description:
Protect yourself as a blogger by understanding the basic legal implications pertaining to content use. Bloggers often use images, quotes and content from other sources, which can expose them to legal risks. This session will cover the do’s and don’ts of using other people’s photos, videos and quotes and how to handle attribution. Furthermore, an overview of copyright laws, your rights as a journalist and the legal implications of misuse will all be covered. There will also be a discussion about Creative Commons – what it means, the different licenses and how they apply to use of content in blogs. Finally, the session will cover your rights and potential courses of action as a blogger when your content is misused.
